ARCHITECTURAL GILDING
AND STONE FINISHES
-
Create the mystery and elegance of the past with beautiful gilded
surfaces. Apply an acid wash, add a patina and dutch metal gives the
illusion of an ancient bronze or a faint glimmer of gold. The art of
gilding with non-precious metals (composition gold, copper and aluminum),
the process of aging with acids and creating a patina with dyes and glazes
will be covered in this workshop. Pearlescent and interference pigments as
well as bronzing powders produce incredibly beautiful finishes. Elegant
and dramatic stones and marbles are fine finishes on fireplaces, cabinets,
doors, millwork, etc. Many "tricks-of-the-trade" are covered in
this popular workshop. Each student will complete 14 samples, some on
crown molding, to enhance their portfolio.
